Exam Calm Toolkit

for JEE Aspirants · by Manas

Six things you can actually use — before, during and after the paper. Keep this; come back to it on a hard day.

1 · Before you study (90s)

Three slow breaths. Pick ONE realistic goal for this session. Phone in another room.

2 · When panic hits (60s reset)

Box breathing: in 4 · hold 4 · out 4 · hold 4, ×4. Then 5-4-3-2-1: name 5 things you see, 4 you hear, 3 you can touch, 2 you smell, 1 you feel.

3 · Night before & morning of

Sleep beats last-minute cramming. Light revision only. Eat something. Reach the centre early so you’re not rushing.

4 · During the paper

Mind blanks? Pause, breathe once, do an easy question first to get moving. Don’t look around at others — their pace isn’t yours.

5 · Protect your engine

~7 hrs sleep. Study in blocks (50 min on, 10 off). Move daily. Cut the doom-scrolling. Talk to someone when it builds up.

6 · Swap the self-talk

Trade “I’ll fail” for “I’ve prepared — I’ll do what I can.” Comparison steals the focus you need for yourself.

Your marks are not your worth, and one exam is not your whole future. Do your best — that is genuinely enough.

Feeling overwhelmed? It’s strength, not weakness, to talk to someone.
